Information for Universities and Institutions

— Why Yourcampusad ?

1. Environmental – does your university have an environmental policy? A lot of used books, furniture etc. is thrown away (often books are never used again after the semester has ended) – passing things on to others is a good thing.

2. International – Yourcampusad is international. A lot of resources are deployed to promote it. International students and exchange students know where to look for housing and other things that they need.

3. More Students – a local market helps students find, e.g. housing, which is often critical to the choice of university. Making it possible for the local community to rent out rooms and housing, increases supply and thus drive prices (rent) down.

4. Social Aspects – local Yourcampus markets promote a vibrant campus culture, which is very important to students when choosing a university.

5. Employees – employees can easily offer their own books or course books for sale or give them away on local markets.

6. Visibility – by being present on Yourcampusad the visibility of your institution increases.

7. It is Free.

8. As a representative for the institution – Implementation of a local yourcampusad market means that you did something good for students and for your institution.

(…Put it on your CV. An impressive CV does not consist of positions you have had – but of things you did or have accomplished.)

— What can be done:

1. You can create a market for your campus or institution in seconds. You can, for example, create a Housing market. And students can set up alarms so that they are notified by email when something is listed on the Housing market within a selected distance from your campus.

2. You can, for example,  create a “Books” market for your whole campus and or by topic corresponding to a specific school / faculty, such as Business. Each sub division can thus create markets tailored to their students. For creating sub divisions, see “Successful or typical implementation” at the bottom below.

Example:

Here is the local Yourcampusad market for Uppsala University, Sweden, with all categories, and with a 10 km radius – as a link, as a clickable sample text, and as a clickable sample image.

This link can be tied to clickable text:

Or to any image:

— Create a local market for your campus in 3 steps:

Step 1. On the home page yourcampusad.com, find your campus in the Location bar, select the category of interest (or leave blank to include all categories). And click “Search”.

Step 2. On the Results page. Copy the complete link in the top of the browser window.

Step 3. Now use that link on your institution’s webpage.

— Anyone with administration access to the webpage can easily ad the link on your institution’s webpage and connect it to buttons or icons.

Email the link to your co-workers, to students, and to new students each year to build a vibrant market.

Repeat step 1-3 with different (market) categories (e.g. “Housing”, “Books – Physics”) as needed.

For Success:

To create a vibrant market its existence must be communicated. We highly recommend every University to  link to their Yourcampusad marketplace on their websites – and to support the student organizations with implementation.

As a guide we suggest the following to Student Organizations:

1. Appoint someone who is responsible for implementation.

2. A main student organization should consider publishing:

— an Overall Yourcampusad market link (no category is chosen in the process above). When students visit the link, they can see what is available on their campus in all categories.

— and a Yourcampusad housing market link (the “Housing” category is chosen in the process above). Housing is critical and all students look for housing at one time or another.

3. Each subdivision of your student organization should consider providing links to your campus:

— Overall market

—  Housing market

— and a subdivision specific market. For example, business books for Business Students Association (which is a subcategory of the Books category). See below.

4. Seek support and cooperation with your institution or University.

How to create subdivision markets from sub categories:

To create subdivision specific markets: Starting from step 3 in the guide to create a local market for your campus – that is from the Results page, you can select categories. Please see red arrows below.

Select a category here and (where applicable) a window will pop up where you can select from sub categories in that category. Select a sub-category. Next, click search, and then copy the complete link that appears in the browser window.

To suggest any category or sub category that you think is missing, please contact us (contact@yourcampusad.com). Thanks for your time reading this. Make it happen!
